Corrugated Half-Slotted Containers
Here you’ll learn about the characteristics and construction of a Half-Slotted Container.
The Half-Slotted Carton with Cover (HSC) is typically used when the cover must be taken off and put back on frequently. Half-Slotted Container Boxes feature a tray top that normally extends less than two-thirds of the depth of the bottom. If extra strength is needed, it can also be made to extend the full depth of the bottom.
How to Construct a Half-Slotted Carton with Cover:
Before assembling this box, please note that this Half-Slotted Container has two parts: a tray top and an HSC bottom.
First, construct the top: Begin by folding the box along the scores. Then, fasten your HSC box at the corners, securing the short flaps on the inside of the box with glue, tape, or staples.
Next, construct the HSC Bottom: Start by opening your box so that you have a three-dimensional rectangular tube. Then, fold in the pair of flaps along the width of the box. Fold in the pair of flaps along the length of the box. Finally, fasten seam with tape or staples.
